Manuel Pellegrini Says Warm Weather Training Could Aid West Ham Uniteds Injury Troubles

West Ham United's players will travel to Malaga for a four-day warm weather training camp in the hope of speeding up the recovery for several key players.

Manuel Pellegrini is taking advantage of a 12-day break between matches to take his players away from the cold of England to sunny Spain as Manuel Lanzini, Samir Nasri and Marko Arnautovic all look to return from injury by the time they face Fulham next Friday.

As reported in the Evening Standard, Pellegrini explained: "We are not going on holiday, we are going to work. Maybe better weather than here but also to take them out some days it is good for the group, so there is a lot of things that I decided why to take the team there."

The extended rest period comes as a result of the Hammers' early exit from the FA Cup at the hands of AFC Wimbledon, but the West Ham boss insists that some positives have come from it.

"I said after we lost at Wimbledon that we wanted to continue in the FA Cup, that was our intention but we couldn’t do it.

"But in another way I think it is good for some players that are playing too many games from the beginning of the season - we continue with eight players injured - so I think that this stop next weekend will be very useful for us."

Talented midfielder Lanzini has missed seven months with a knee injury which ruled him out of the World Cup with Argentina, but the 25-year-old could return to the matchday squad against Fulham.

Fabian Balbuena has also been on the sidelines with a knee injury since December but the defender is nearing a comeback and Hammers fans will hope the training camp will end with Nasri and Arnautovic back to full fitness.

Without a win since beating Arsenal on December 12, Pellegrini could do with a clean injury bill sooner rather than later.
