Pearce Getting Ready For Return
Ian Pearce makes his competitive come-back tonight, in a reserve match against Arsenal at Upton Park. He was originally due to play in a reserve match last week, but the game was cancelled at the last minute.
Much like current Hammers defender Christian Dailly, Ian had a tough start to his career at Upton Park, but he turned around his poor form to become a firm fan favourite.
He has an aerial presence on the pitch that the Hammers have sorely missed in defence, and he has a knack for scoring goals too. For Glenn, it will be very much like having a new signing on board.
It will provide competition for places in defence - something that is seemingly lacking at the moment. Although naturally a centre-back, Ian has also played as a right back for the Hammers under Harry - but I suppose most players played right back under Harry.
Glenn said of Ian: "I'm going to be asking Ian Pearce to come back from injury a little soon; because of injuries and suspensions for the Middlesbrough game I have really got to try and get Ian up to speed for that game.
"I have seen how hard Ian has worked and I know how much he wants to get back into the first team action as soon as possible. Hopefully we will be able to get him ready and able to do the job in a fortnight's time."
Let's just hope that he is not brought back too early, and that he relapses. Ian has been out with a knee injury since April last year.
