The tributes that flooded in from the world of football and beyond are a testament to the high esteem that Bobby was held in by the footballing world but the scenes at the gates of the Boleyn showed just what we the fans thought of him. The tributes ranged from scarves, rosettes, flowers and most poignantly a West Ham shirt with a number 6 on the back.

One of the most amazing things is that the tributes were not all from West Ham fans, many were from other clubs such as Spurs, one of West Ham's fiecest rivals. For that moment fans were united in their grief of losing the original golden boy of English football.
There are many memorable events in Bobby's life and some of my favourites are as follows.

Walking up to receive the World Cup from the Queen Bobby wiped his hands on the velvet draped over the Royal box as he didn't want to get the Queen's white gloves dirty.

In a League Cup game Bobby took over in goal and saved a penalty unfortunately the player scored the rebound.

Having headed the ball clear in a game the ball inadvertantly hit the referee and knocked him unconcious. Bobby simply took the whistle from the referee's hand and blew it to stop the game so the referee could receive attention from the physio's.

Bobby was a footballing giant but more than that he was a gentleman.
