The Hammers had already rubber-stamped a move for the Serbian and were hopeful of completing a season long loan deal in time for Saturday’s game against Aston Villa however they are now forced to turn their attentions elsewhere.

A statement from the official site states, “West Ham United can confirm the club's work permit application for Miralem Sulejmani has been rejected by an Appeal panel at the Football Association.

The club had agreed terms with the player and AFC Ajax but the move was dependent on Thursday afternoon's hearing.  West Ham will make no further comment at this time, with the club still very active in the transfer market and looking to add more new recruits for Avram Grant's squad.

Five new faces have already arrived this summer in Thomas Hitzlsperger, Pablo Barrera, Frederic Piquionne, Tal Ben Haim and Winston Reid, while the club have also retained the services of key men like Robert Green and Scott Parker.
