Joe Cole's first West Ham goal since his return earned the hosts a point as Loic Remy was denied a dream debut for QPR. Remy, an £8million signing from Marseille, scored after 14 minutes and the Hammers found Julio Cesar in inspired form before Joe Cole tapped in when the Brazilian goalkeeper could only parry substitute Carlton Cole's header.
"We couldn't have created more opportunities to score more goals," Allardyce said. "We're looking very dejected almost like we've lost in the dressing room, because we knew that performance should've got three points."
He added: "I said to the lads, 'look, carry on like that and you'll win more games than you'll draw'. At the other end all we've got done by is the sucker punch, which we talked about before the game.
"It's an encouraging performance to do what we did, but the frustration and disappointment was it didn't lead to what should've been a comfortable victory."
The perpetrator of that strike against the run of play was Remy, who was played in by Adel Taarabt, the playmaker with whom he linked well throughout.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp hopes to combine his record signing with Bobby Zamora, who could return from injury next week.
"It was good to see him score in his first game," Redknapp said. "I thought at that stage of the game he and Taarabt were going to do a bit of damage.
"He (Remy) will do that. He's got great movement off the ball and if you can get people to slide him in when he makes those runs, he will get in because he's got lightning pace and he will score some goals. He'll do okay.
"We haven't had any pace up front. If I can get Bobby fit, next week he could be around and ready to play, I think Zamora and Remy could be a real good partnership."
