Ferdinand limped off after only minutes and is set to undergo a scan and tests to determine the exact length of his absence; however Alan Curbishley is already planning to be without Anton for the remainder of this term.
Curbs told the Daily Mirror, "It looks like Anton will be out for the rest of the season,".
"His injury just sums up the kind of problems we have been having.
"It was a blow for us so early in the game.
"But we just have to get on with it."
