Big Breakfast Trip Run-Down

It's not everyday you get the chance to appear on television, so when The Big Breakfast contacted WestHammersFC and FootyMAD late on Tuesday afternoon, requesting for England fans for the next morning's show, we did what we could to help them out.

With not much time to get prepared, FootyMAD boss David Price prepared to leave FootyMAD HQ in Burnley late on Tuesday evening to head down to London.

I phoned up my oldest bro Chris, also an avid Hammers fan, and he was roped in whilst the preparations were underway.

David had given me the task of arranging suitable accomodation in London for the night, and when I realised the Big Breakfast studios were within a few miles of our very own Upton Park, the opportunity to stay at the new West Ham United Quality Hotel was too much to miss.

I made the enquiries (with a very helpful receptionist) who informed me that all the twin rooms were taken, and only doubles were available. I had the decision to make: do I sleep in the same bed as my brother (something I have not done for years since we were kids), and stay at Upton Park; or go elsewhere and sleep on my tod. It was an easy decision to make, and the booking was made.

We eventually arrived at the ground (or hotel?) at around 1.30am, and took a trip down Green Street to get some tucka. The only place open (other than the 24 hour Tesco Metro - which was running severely low at this time) was Dixie Chicken by the tube station. They were about to close for the night, so gave us all the cooked chicken they had for a bargain tenner.

Having eaten most of the grub, we got ourselves to bed for about 2 hours kip before our 5am wake up call. I have never gone to sleep with such a huge smile on face as I did that night! More on the hotel in another report though...

We got to the Big Breakfast studios at around 6am, and after a couple of rehearsals of "Here we go" in Japanese, we were on. The show started at 7am, and is filmed completely live. What you see in the house is what is going on at the time.

We had our bit of singing various chants ("Here we go", "Who ate all the Pies" and "Stand up if you hate Man U") in Japanese and then translated into English, before mingling with the rest of the Big Brekkie crew and guests for the duration of the show.

The show was a blast, and all the producers were top lads and lasses, and we had a great time there. We'll put loads of pics online when we get the chance, together with an in-depth report into the Quality Hotel, which lives up to his name, especially if you're a Hammer...
