Boa seemed to jar his knee following a challenge from Spurs’ Benoit Assou-Ekotto after only ten minutes of the pre-season friendly. He fell to floor and immediately signalled to the bench for a stretcher whilst clutching his knee. He left the ground with a knee brace on and was immediately taken to hospital for scans.
Suspected cruciate ligament damage will keep the midfielder out of action for around 6 months if confirmed. The news will be a big blow to 31-year-old as he finally seemed to win over a section of the Hammers fans after coming on the end of much criticism at the start of the season.
