Carroll appeal turned down

The Hammers striker will now have to serve a three-match ban after the FA regulatory commission reviewed the incident following reports from the officials, submissions from the club and the use of video evidence.

The panel decided that despite Flores seemingly rolling around on the floor in pain after Carroll’s arm flicks the top of his hair, the intent on the part of the Hammers striker was enough to justify the red card.

The suspension rules Carroll out the games against Aston Villa, Norwich City and Southampton.
