Steve told the official site, “Credit to the players, though, because they fought back in the second half and didn't let their heads go down. After being on the end of a drubbing in the first half and receiving some criticism from the staff at half-time, they could have thrown the towel in completely, but I asked for a positive reaction, and I got one.

”We won the second half 1-0, and the players worked extremely hard, which was all I could ask from them. There is obviously a lot of hard work ahead, but I saw plenty of good signs last night and I'm feeling very positive about the challenge ahead.

”At reserve level, individual performances are more important than the result, but the two often go hand in hand, and I am sure that if we keep playing as we did in the second half last night, then the victories will come.

”We have a lot of young, talented players at the Club and I am looking forward to working with them in the weeks and months ahead.”
