Davenport, who is lucky to even be walking again, was official charged with the assault on Wednesday by Bedfordshire Police.
The allegation is that Davenport assaulted his sister in the hours prior to suffering a number of stab wounds to his legs. Davenport’s sister’s boyfriend Worrell Whitehurst has been charged in relation to the stabbing incident.
A police statement reads:
“Professional footballer Calum Davenport has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm on a woman following an incident in Bedford on August 22.
“Mr Davenport, 26, of Flitton, Bedfordshire, is currently on bail to appear at Bedford Magistrates' Court on November 10.”
