David Moyes Says He Has 'Unfinished Business' at West Ham and Hints at January Transfer Plans

New West Ham manager David Moyes has said he has 'unfinished business' at the club, while hinting that there are transfer funds available to him should he wish to reinforce his squad in January.

It was announced on Sunday that Moyes would return for a second spell at the club, having rescued their season in 2017/18 before making way for the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean was backed heavily by the board but failed to deliver the expected results, and was sacked on Saturday after defeat to Leicester left them within a point of the relegation zone.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man, however, as within 24 hours it was announced that Moyes would return for a second spell. And speaking ahead of Wednesday's six-pointer with Bournemouth, the Scot says he feels he has unfinished business.

"I certainly do feel I have unfinished business," he said, as quoted by Football London. "I really enjoyed it here last time, I felt by the end we had gone on a positive direction with the players.

"I’d have liked to have developed that but it didn’t quite happen. It was great to come in through the doors again."

When asked about his January plans, he revealed that there are funds available, but says his priority is getting a tune out of the existing squad.

"I think there is money there to spend. I am more interested in the players at the club at the moment, see how we can mould them into the best possible team and formation. We have to get results.

He was then asked if he feels the squad now is stronger than the one he left behind, having added Issa Diop, Pablo Fornals and Sebastian Haller among a number of high-profile signings under Pellegrini.

Calling on the big names to deliver, Moyes admitted they would need to get off to a fast start, but with an 18 month deal this time around, he also has one eye on the future.

"I believe so [the squad is stronger now]," he said.  "They have spent well on players.

"If we're being truthful, we need those players to stand up. They will have a massive impact on the support and they need to stand up in the coming weeks.

"We had to get a quick turnaround last time to get results, we have to do that again but I do know I now have a longer project."
