Despite certain media-garbage reporting a rift between Ashton and Alan Curbishley, the front-man was quick to admit that his 2nd half role in the 1-0 victory over Blackburn was a genius decision by the man celebrating 1 year in charge of the club.

"It's great to get 45 minutes and I feel like I'm back to what I was before so it's really nice."

"The first half was very tight - two evenly matched teams but the second halves do tend to open up and that was good for me. I managed to get some good touches and it was a good 45 minutes for me.

"The Christmas period is very tough for all of us and to get a win this weekend will put everybody in a good frame of mind for Wednesday because we want to get to a final."
