The 27-year-old play-maker became a favourite with the crowds in Gianfranco Zola’s final season, catching the eye with energetic performances and finishing the term with seven goals.

It is believed Diamanti has held talks with Brescia after the two clubs agreed a fee.

Speaking earlier in the week Diamanti admitted that he is open to the move.  “Me to Brescia?  I cannot say anything,” he told bresciaoggi.it.

“I didn’t play against Bolton because I am injured a little bit.  Now, I am a West Ham player.

“Going back to Italy?  I have many possibilities.  Brescia wouldn’t be an unwelcome solution.”
