DISGRACE: West Ham's ONLY left-back SOLD

George McCartney has gone back to Sunderland after 'handing in a written transfer request" barely a month after agreeing a new 5-year contract.

According to reports his wife has been feeling unsettled in London and was desperate to move back to the North East.

The Hammers had already rejected one bid of £4.5 million for McCartney a few weeks as the Northern Irishman pledged his future to the club stating that he was going nowhere.

Hammers CEO Scott Duxbury defended the sale in a statement on the official site yet somehow failed to mention how the manager is now supposed to improve on last years 10th place after the board has gone and sold half of his best defence.

"We had no intention of selling George McCartney but it became clear in the last couple of days after he handed in a written transfer request that he was desperate to move on for family reasons. Once Sunderland came in with an improved offer, we decided the deal was in the best interests of all parties."

The words "in the best interests of all parties" truly astound me.

How is selling our only natural left-back, without bringing in any cover, in the clubs best interest?
