The winger, ironically nicknamed 'le TGV', agreed the temporary deal to go to Madrid on Friday and is said to be delighted by the move which could become permanent in the summer.

West Ham CEO Scott Duxbury told the official site, "We can confirm that the deal has gone through and Julien will be with Madrid until the end of the season. This is a good move for all parties and we wish Julien well."

It is believed that Madrid have paid the Hammers £1.5 million for the initial loan period with an additional fee of around £4.5 million to be paid in the summer if all parties are agreeing.
