The 19-year-old hobbled out of England Under-21s 3-1 win over Poland after he was on the wrong end of a bad challenge from Karol Gregorek.
The Polish player was cautioned for the foul and Ferdinand was replaced by former Hammers loanee Matthew Kilgallon.
Ferdinand will have a scan on the injury on Wednesday to determine how long he will be out of action.
