Ferdinand: Part II
Following in identical footsteps as his older brother, from Bluecoats School in Blackheath, via the Blackheath District team to the West Ham youth set-up, Anton, a centre-half or rightback, has signed a three year contract for the Hammers.

He is from the same mould as his brother, and their running styles in particular are very similar, but people shouldn't get too excited yet. He is still developing, and just because he is "the younger brother of..." he may not turn out the same way.

Hammers boss Glenn Roeder said: "I have always felt that Anton would develop more slowly than his brother but he has improved significantly as a player since last Christmas.

"My intention now is to get him into the reserve team as soon as possible because he needs to be playing against more experienced opponents. That’s the only way he will learn. But he will also be available to play in our most important youth games."

Anton has already featured for the first team, albeit in a friendly, when he played against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road last week in a pre-season fixture. Says Anton about that match:

"It was a great experience for me and hopefully I showed the manager a little of what I can do."

And we all wait with baited breath to see what you can do Anton. No pressure mate...
