The Argentine international has already played for both Corinthians and West Ham during the last 12 months and under current FIFA rules a player cannot play for more than two clubs in this period of time.
A FIFA spokesman today confirmed, “After due consideration of all aspects, the Fifa single judge ruled that upon registration for Liverpool FC during the present registration period, the player Javier Mascherano is eligible to play in official matches with the said club with immediate effect”
Mascherano should complete his 18-month loan move to Anfield today following a medical with the club.
