Rangers are owned by West Ham fan Tony Fernandes who failed in his bid to buy the Hammers before David Gold and David Sullivan’s takeover had been completed.
It is believed the Hammers had offered Green only a small increase on his current contract and QPR were prepared to offer the England international a much more attractive package.
Green made 241 appearances for the Hammers in six years. He was also awarded the coveted ‘Hammer of the Year’ award in 2008.
