Hammers go marching on

The Hammers came in to the game on the back of three consecutive 2-0 victories but soon fell behind when Yoshida headed home un-marked from a free-kick.

With confidence high, the Hammers were quickly came back into the game and were level only 12 minutes later when Matt Jarvis beat the offside trap to convert past Arthur Boruc.  Carlton Cole then put the Hammers ahead only minutes later after following up his own header that had hit the post from Stewart Downing’s corner.

Southampton came out brightly in the second-half and dominated possession until Skipper Kevin Nolan continued his recent goal-scoring exploits with a turn-and-volley from six yards on 71 minutes to make the game safe.
