After conceding the first goal on 17 minutes the Hammers struck back immediately from the head of Frank Nouble. They then lost the lead again with only 6 minutes left until half time before playing out a goalless second half.
Scott Parker, Carlton Cole, Rob Green, Mark Noble and new signing Kevin Nolan were all absent from the young squad which performed admirably for the first run-out of the new season.
