Hammers bounce back

The introduction of Carlton Cole at half time proved to be the catalyst for an impressive second-half performance from Sam Allardyce’s side.

The Hammers went behind on 33 minutes after Clive Platt converted a Cyrus Christie cross from close range.

After the break the Hammers found some more possession and quick long clearance from Goalkeeper Rob Green found Carlton Cole who finished well for the Hammers’ equaliser on 69 minutes.

Freddie Piquionne then hit the winner for the Hammers 5 minutes later after a cross from Julien Faubert.

West Ham defended deep and tried to hit Coventry on the counter-attack for the rest of the game and Jack Collison missed a fine chance to seal the points in added time.  The win improves West Ham’s position in 2nd place in the Championship table.
