Hammers come up short in Austria

The Hammers took the lead through Sam Baldock after only four minutes but were then undone by some fine play by the host to find themselves 2-1 down at half time.

A whole host of changes at half-time allowed the Hammers to give every player a good run-out.  Nicky Maynard was on target for the Hammerd as the second-half began but the goal was ruled out for a foul by West Ham captain Kevin Nolan.

Wien then secured a third goal on 75 minutes to put the game to bed.

Despite the loss, the squad will have been happy to have got some game time under their belts as the first week of preparation for the new season comes to an end.
