The England striker injured his right knee in a collision during the first half of the Hammers’ 5-3 victory over Burnley at the weekend and had to be substituted at half time.
“Cole will not need surgery on his right knee and having being closely assessed in recent days, will start his rehab with the aim of being back as soon as possible into the new year,” says a statement on the official site.
A lengthy lay-off will no doubt decrease the chance of Cole making the England squad for the World Cup finals this year.
