West Ham took the lead in a pulsating encounter but were eventually overcome by a strong Arsenal side.
Matt Jarvis opened the scoring after 40 minutes but Arsenal were level before the break through German Lukas Podolski.
The Hammers continued brightly after the break and could have gone ahead through Stewart Downing but his shot went wide. The Hammers were then hit with the sucker-punch as Olivier Giroud scored Arsenal’s second. Lukas Podolski had time to add a third on 78 minutes as Arsenal ran-out resounding winners.
