The Hammers made a fantastic start to the game as Captain Kevin Nolan exchanged passes with birthday boy Ricardo Vaz Te before sending the ball to the back post for an unmarked Matt Jarvis to head home for his first goal in claret and blue.

Vaz Te then added a second goal on 35 minutes from another acute angle to give the Hammers a comfortable 0-2 lead at half-time.

QPR came out strong in the second half and substitute Adel Tarrabt hit a 25-yard screamer into the top corner of the net to give them hope.

The second off of QPR substitute Diakite on 75 minutes effectively killed the game as a contest and the Hammers were left to record their first away win of the season to lift them to 7th in the Barclays Premier League.
