New signing Thomas Hitzlsperger was taken off last night after just over an hour whilst captaining the German national team with what appeared to be a thigh injury.
Hitzlsperger is currently back in London undergoing a scan to determine the severity of the injury. If a muscle tear is diagnosed, as feared, it could keep him out of action for anywhere between three and twelve weeks.
The news will be a blow to boss Avram Grant as the German has been in impressive form during the Hammers’ pre-season.
