A goal in each half from Joe Cole and Captain Kevin Nolan was enough to secure all three points and give the Hammers the start to the season they were hoping for.
Joe Cole opened the scoring after only 13 minutes, converted accurately after some good work down the left by winger Matt Jarvis.
The game see-sawed back and forth in the second half but the result was confirmed when skipper Kevin Nolan hit home a strike from just inside the box to make the game 2-0 and to secure the Hammers’ first 3 points of the new season.
