Hammers lose out to Liverpool

Not many teams have managed to deal with the pace and power of Liverpool this season but the Hammers gave their all and were unfortunate not to come away with a point.

The Hammer started brightly and the first half contained chances at both ends.  Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard converted a penalty after James Tomkins was adjudged to have handled a cross from Luis Suarez.

Immediately after the break the Hammers had their equaliser when Guy Demel poked home a Mark Noble corner.  Liverpool were incensed by the referee missing a clear foul from Andy Carroll on Simon Mignolet as the cross came in.

Liverpool’s second, also came from the penalty spot.  Adrian was judged to have fouled Jon Flanagan inside the box and Steven Gerrard calmly slotted home what was to be the winner.
