The Hammers started with a vastly different side that has overcome Sporting Clube de Portugal only 24 hours earlier in the same stadium.
The game started slowly and despite some pressure from the Portuguese side they were unable to find a way through the Hammers defence in the first half.
It wasn’t until the 63 minute when Rafa reacted quickest to strike home the rebound after goalkeeper Adrian has parried a shot from Yazalde that SC Braga took the lead.
The Hammers were brighter following the goal but they were unable to get themselves back in the game and eventually succumbed to defeat.
