Sheffield United were relegated on the final day of the 2006/2007 season after they failed to hold on to a 10-point gap on West Ham over the final 7 games of the season.

The Premier League found West Ham guilty of breaking contractual rules regarding the third party ownership of the two Argentineans and fined the club £5.5million.

Having been so poor in not defeating Wigan at home on the last day of the season a bitter campaign was launched by Sheffield United as they claimed that the Premier League should have deducted points from West Ham instead of fining them.

Blades Chairman Kevin McCabe told their official site, "I can confirm that both clubs have been notified of the ruling. The arbitration panel has awarded in our favour. The matter is still legally in process so I do not wish to comment any further until we have completed that process."
