In a hotly contested game neither side created many openings in the first half but the Hammers went in one down following Romelu Lukaku’s offside goal on 26 minutes.

After the break, the Hammers started to dominate possession and they duly hit back through Mauro Zarate on 56 minutes.  The Hammers continued to dominate a fiercely contested game and looked likeliest to secure victory until Everton broke away and Samuel Eto’o provided the cross for Osman to hit what was ultimately the winning goal for the Toffees.
