The Hammers clearly needed to win the game in order to improve their chances of avoiding the drop into the Championship however they started nervously and then went behind after only 13 minutes when Jason Roberts converted a Brett Emerton cross.
The Hammers came into the match in the second half but could not find a way to break down Blackburn’s resolute defence until Thomas Hitzlsperger converted after some good build up play from Carlton Cole and Freddie Piquionne.
Despite the point, the Hammers are still firmly rooted in the bottom three and looking even less likely to avoid relegation.
