The 28-year-old midfielder is being tipped by many as a replacement for the Premier League bound Hammer-of-the-year Scott Parker.
Nolan has been awarded a five-year-deal after the two clubs agreed a fee of around £4 million and is expected to be made the new club captain once Matthew Upson leaves the club at the end of his contract.
Nolan has a record of 80 goals in 436 appearances following successful times at Bolton and Newcastle.
