Hammers smash Burnley to continue fine form

Burnley started brightly but were unable to find a way past the impressive Adrian in the Hammers goal.  Both teams also struck the woodwork in the first half but ultimately went into the break goalless.

The game came to life early in the second half when in-form striker Diafra Sakho headed home his sixth goal in as many games.  Enner Valencia then nodded home a second to give the Hammers a two goal cushion.  That was to last only 5 minutes, as George Boyd bundled home to give the home side hope.

Burnley pressed for the equaliser but were unable to do anything as Sakho nodded Noble’s cross back into the path of substitute Carlton Cole to score his second goal of the campaign and secure all three points for the Hammers.
