Hammers win derby match

Despite playing 80 minutes of the game with only 10 men following the 9th minute dismissal of Captain Kevin Nolan for what was deemed a two-footed challenge by referee Mick Jones, the Hammers managed to contain their rivals with ease at times.

The head of Carlton Cole put the Hammers in front on the stroke of half time following a long ball up field from Mark Noble.  The Hammers continued to dominate the game until an excellent finish from outside the box by Liam Trotter gave Millwall a foot in the game.

Three minutes later though, a long ball into the box was not dealt with well by goalkeeper Forde, who appeared to be fouled by Julien Faubert.  The goalkeeper’s clearance fell to Winston Reid to lash home from 25 yards to secure the points for the home side.
