The all action left-back sustained the injury during the Hammers’ opening game of the season against Wolves. Ilunga rose for the ball and was involved in a horrific clash of heads with Wolves defender Kevin Foley.
Initial diagnosis was that he had suffered concussion but subsequent scans have revealed a fracture of the cheek bone.
