Huth appeared to punch Matthew Upson in the face completely off the ball as they were waiting for a Hammers free-kick in the second half on the game on Saturday. The clash between the pair opened up a wound that Upson had already acquired earlier in the game.
Referee Martin Atkinson missed the incident so the German defender will face trial by video when the Football Association review the tapes later this week.
Stoke manager Tony Pulis has already pledged to deal with Huth himself. “I'll have a look at it and if there was anything in it we'll deal with it in-house," he said.
