The Juventus player was apparently all set for a loan move to the East End until Palermo, ironically the last Italian side to defeat the Hammers, decided that they wanted Lanzafame as part of deal taking their striker Amauri the other way.

Lanzafame is said to prefer a move to England and is set to meet Juventus officials this week to discuss his future. "I think both Palermo and West Ham could be for me two positive experiences," he told Sky Italia.

"They are two important places, but the decision hasn't been taken yet.

"In the next few days I'll talk with Juventus and we will decide together the best solution, also because one day I want to come back to Bianconeri."
