James and Cole for England!

Last updated : 09 May 2002 By Mike Reich
As we told you yesterday, Joe Cole is going to the World Cup with Sven and his men - and David James is also heading for the Far East this summer. However, Trevor Sinclair will not be packing his bags for Japan with them, whilst Michael Carrick is staying in Europe for the U21 Championships, with Jermain Defoe and Stephen Bywater.

Although not a huge shock for Michael - he missed out on the last two England squads through an unfortunate timed injury - Trevor will be bitterly disappointed.

Ex-Hammer Rio Ferdinand also got the nod, whilst Frank Lampard will be twiddling his thumbs this summer - as he missed out on the full squad and is too old for the U21s.

The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers
David James (West Ham)
Nigel Martyn (Leeds)
David Seaman (Arsenal)

Defenders
Wayne Bridge (Southampton)
Wes Brown (Manchester United)
Sol Campbell (Arsenal)
