New West Ham United signing Jarrod Bowen has insisted that it was a 'no-brainer' to join the Hammers, despite being unaware of the fact that other sides had also made an official bid for his services.
Bowen attracted plenty of attention from Premier League teams as a result of his fine performances for Hull City. The forward scored an impressive 16 goals and provided six assists in 29 Championship games for the Tigers this season, following on from an equally prolific campaign last term.
90min learned in December that there was interest in his signature from Newcastle and Bournemouth among others, although the Magpies were later said to be 'unimpressed' with Hull's valuation of the winger. However, West Ham were able to reach an agreement over the transfer of the 23-year-old and he completed his switch late on Deadline Day in January.
The wide man has now opened up on his move, and while he explained that joining the Hammers was an easy decision to make, he also admitted that he was unaware that other sides made an official bid to land him.
"It all happened quite quickly. I think the West Ham bid arrived on Thursday evening, so I woke up on Friday excited to see what the day brought," he told Sky Sports.
"I knew there had been other teams interested in January, but West Ham were the only ones that I knew had put a concrete offer in. The others, like Crystal Palace, came from nowhere a little bit and I wasn't aware that they had actually made an official bid.
"In the end, it was a no-brainer to join West Ham, but I still needed to take five minutes to myself because it's a big moment for anyone to move club, especially off the pitch when it involves moving to a big city. You've got to take every single factor into consideration because it's a big decision in your life. It's one that I've made now and I'm very happy."
Bowen has also revealed that the size of the club, as well as the stadium and the manager helped influence his decision to join the Hammers. He added:
