Joe Cole for England

Despite suffering relegation this season to Division One, West Ham now have three players in the full England squad, as Joe Cole is called up to replace the injured Kieron Dyer, joining England No 1 David James and Trevor Sinclair.

It is just reward for a lot of effort this season from Joe, and perhaps a good sign that although we have gone down, they are still recognised for their ability.
Whether or not Trevor or Joe get more than a few minutes remains to be seen, but you would hope they get some action at the very least.

The Hammers also have three players in the U21 squad in Jermain Defoe (who is staying put for the time being at least), Glen Johnson and Stephen Bywater - players who the club must not sell if they want to maintain a decent squad. Michael Carrick would no doubt be a part of the U21 squad too were he not injured, making a decent representation for a division one side.

England Head coach Sven Goran Eriksson told TheFA.com: "I am disappointed to lose Kieron. However, in Joe Cole I know I have a very good player who already has international experience and I am confident he'll do a good job for the team."
