Kanoute for Etherington!

Last updated : 03 August 2003 By Footymad
Kanoute's departure follows hot-on-the-heels of Lee Bowyer, Les Ferdinand, Glen Johnson and Trevor Sinclair leaving Upton Park as manager Glenn Roeder continues to rebuild a squad of committed players ready to mount an assault on the First Division title and a swift return to the Premiership.

"We have agreed personal terms with Matt," said the Hammers boss.

"We are close to the transfer, and when we secure his services with Freddie going the other way we hope to continue our efforts to bring in another striker."
