The 24-year-old has been in impressive form for the Hammers since his arrival this summer from RSC Anderlecht. It is believed Cheikhou suffered the injury during the first half of Liverpool game but managed to play on for the 90 minutes.
A grade two sprain has been diagnosed by the clubs doctors and Kouyate will now begin his rest period before hopefully re-joining training in two weeks.
