Kurt Zouma pleads guilty to two counts of animal cruelty

Kurt Zouma has pleaded guilty to two offences of animal cruelty after a video emerged of him kicking and slapping his cat back in February.

The West Ham defender entered his plea at Thames Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning, along with brother Yoan.

Zouma pleaded guilty to two counts of causing “unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, by kicking and slapping a cat”, in contravention of section 4 subsection 1 of the 2006 Animal Welfare Act.

His brother also entered a guilty plea. He was charged with "aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring Kurt Zouma to commit the offence."

When footage of the offences emerged on social media, the 27-year-old was heavily criticised with West Ham fining the player two weeks' wages. In addition, several sponsors withdrew their support of the Hammers.

Zouma had previously been charged by the RSPCA back in March for the cat abuse.
