Magpies defender signs for Hammers

The transfer listed ex-Sheffield United player as been brought in by caretaker boss Trevor Brooking as cover for the injured Rufus Brevett who is sidelined for the next five months with a broken bone in his foot.

"Trevor Brooking felt we needed a quality left back in the absence of Rufus Brevett before this intense flurry of fixtures coming up," managing director Paul Aldridge told the Hammers official website.

"We welcome Wayne to the club, and will ensure he settles in as quickly as possible."
