The 23-year-old defender has found first-team opportunities limited this season after joining the club for £1 million back in the summer. Mears has made only six first team appearances following a succession of injuries.
Tyrone heads to Derby, who are managed by his former Preston boss Bill Davies, on loan until the end of the season although there is a big possibility the deal will be made permanent in the summer providing all parties are happy.
