Nikola Vlasic joins Torino on loan from West Ham

West Ham forward Nikola Vlasic has joined Serie A club Torino on loan for the duration of the 2022/23 season. The deal also includes an option for a permanent transfer next summer.

The Hammers signed Vlasic from CKSA Moscow last year for around £27m, making him one of the most expensive Croatian players of all time.

Despite an impressive goal record with CSKA, Vlasic managed only one Premier League goal for West Ham last season. He only started six league games, mostly on the left wing, and was given more of an opportunity in the Europa League group stage.

Vlasic had also previously had a disappointing spell in England with Everton in 2017/18.

Wingers Josip Brekalo and Marko Pjaca both left Torino at the end of last season when their loan deals expired. The club also released centre forward Andrea Belotti.

Pietro Pellegri’s loan from Monaco has also been made permanent this summer.

Napoli had also been tracking Vlasic, whose playing time at West Ham this summer was threatened even more as soon as the club competed a deal for Maxwel Cornet.

The Hammers have additionally signed Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo to strengthen up front.
