Nolan pleased with victory

Speaking to West Ham TV, Nolan admitted it was tough for the Hammers to keep control when things seemed to be going against them.

“It’s always tough because you always seem to be playing against the referee as well as the other team, but I think the lads showed discipline.  Although we had five booked, they were very harsh and they could easily have had five booked too.

“That was disappointing, but it shows you how far we’ve come.  We’ve got a lot of quality in this squad and, when it’s not going right for us, we still manage to stay in there.  I don’t think it was a penalty and we can argue about [the free-kick for] the second goal too.

“We scored three good goals.  Ravel scoring two was massive for us because he’s been fantastic through the pre-season.  It was nice to get on the scoresheet myself and to keep banging them in and we’re in good form.
